View Full Version : cs_office_unlimited again
So I haven’t been around for a while but iv been playing in reg office and office_unlimtied past few days. I didn’t think people really played office_u anymore, but we had around 20 ppl in there yesterday.
While in there multiple people were there shouting out ideas for another version of the map (some things never change), so I started messing with the map today.
i am looking at changing the season from winter to something warmer i think, similar to what cs_office_extended was like except i need to find some way to make up for the elevation change when i remove all the snow, I didn’t like that in the extended map. i also put in bathrooms there today with some cool looking mirrors that work, unfortunately you cannot see your own player model due to the stupid steam engine, but you can see everyone else around you in the mirror.
I was also thinking about putting vents in, and I started doing so.. I’m just worried about camping.. so what I’m thinking is after 1:30 hits on the clock I could make some gas or something fill up in the vents slowly killing any campers unless they get out to the halls.
Of course I would fix the .nav mesh.. although i would rather not put hosties in just because they always seem to be a pain no matter how good of a .nav mesh you generate. not sure how to get around it just yet, might just have to settle for the dumb ass hosties.
I’m also put the default textures back, just because oc looks kinda dull, i think the textures are cool but still dull.
Oh and I made the elevators work muchmuch better, i rebuilt them from scratch using a func_door rather than a track train, only downside is it will only work for 2 floors, no more than that.. some people asked for a 3rd floor onto the office or perhaps a rooftop, now that would be cool.. but jesus the map is already huge.. so unno.
Let me know what you all think and if you have any suggestions shout em out.

O don't go back to the old textures... Maybe oc is dull, but the old shit is, well, shit. D: Make something new from scratch instead of using the nuke walls. Hell, I'll make you something if you don't know much about textures.

see that pic there, thats kinda my problem.. i can only do so much to make somethign look cool as is with 2d textures..
in that screenshot, i dotn liek those textures becasue theres so mucyh detail in them. teh texture makes an attempt to look 3d with the metal mesh inbetween the metal beams, but they are all in the saem texture on the same level. if i made a wall liek that i would want to nudge the metal mesh part in a bit to give it that depth.
so when im workign with the existign office walls.. theres not a hell of a lot i can do, you know?

You're definitely right. Problem with the default walls is they have that wood crap that should stick out an inch or two, but it doesn't. That and it looks nasty anyway. CMAC let me know if you want me to make a better plaster wall texture. I'm pretty good at stuff like that. The green theme OC has, maybe we could switch to a light pastel blue instead or something.

he already made a de_office it was called de_office_extreme i believe, And i thought it was the shit!
yeah i liked the de better then saving hostages, but i should have made all the props with physics properties immune to the blast when the bomb goes off cause i dotn know about everyone else but i got some masssssive fps lag from that shit ahha.
and yeah i have been working on the map for the last week i guess, i know i take awhile to make maps.. its cause i don't dedicate my life to making them eh ahah, i map when i feel like it.
here is a look at the new office unlimited map.
new textures and a few things i have changed.
i have the rest of the map in my head and am 100% sure of what i want to do.
im taking the map to the roof rather than the underground parking bit i had in the last version. I have rebuilt the elevators from scratch, they work hell of a lot better since i used func_movelinear rather than using the tracktrain entity. all this means is everything you do not see about the elevator works much better. the textures are a mixture of the regular office plaster and instead of the lame wood i made stainless steel doors, elevators, and trim for the walls. as you can see in the screenshors they reflect like real metal does, this is the first time i amde reflective textures but it's going alright. the pics show the metal as beign overly reflective, i will probbaly tone it down a bit before im finished.
the map still includes extended garage (which i rebuilt from scratch) as well as the extended hallway. i changed the props in the room near long hall to look more liek a paper or storage room, i like that look better.. lastly, the big change to the map is having a playable rooftop. there is a ladder and will be a stairway on the ct side of the map to reach the roof, and as for the terrorists, they ahve a stairway right in t spawn and one beside the elevators.

Maybe a sewer or something that starts in ct spawn behind the garage door that does not move and have it comes out from under the basement near the elevators, and in extended garage behind garage door. Or maybe you can have it open and run a hall to the awp tower in the backyard, kinda a backdoor to extended garage.
Don't forget to have it say N/U in places throughout the map.
well first off there is no basement now. but i see what you want, some passage to sneak through the map.
and as for the backyard tower, i was thinking hard about this because right now.. it seems cts will get raped. the terrorists have the rooftop, extended and the sniper tower on top of all the areas in regular office at backyard. as for the cts they have 1 garage door and the stair, i can see a lot of ct deaths there right now.
i am thinking of making the sniper tower exclusively the cts to help them out. and a back way to extended sounds like a great idea to me, il just have to figure out what will work.
how about..
i open that garage door in ct spawn and have it lead outside. to a new outdoor area similar to backyard, cts will be able to secure it first and work their way into extended from there. i think that should work.
