View Full Version : Some issues...

Well after playing in the server for a couple days this problem keeps occurring - the issue with lag and sudden freezes. I wanted to mention this now because its been getting to the point where I have to leave one of my favorite maps because I cannot play properly.
Now before you begin my rates are set to the proper numbers. They are currently 30000 100 100. However, I have also experimented with 30000 100 101, 30000 100 100, 25000 100 101, 25000 100 100, and finally with the old rates given in the beginning of logging in...25000 66 66.
You would think that one of these rates would have worked for me, but sadly that is not the case. What is strange is that I use the same rate, 30000 100 101 (I believe) for both regular office and dust2. Dust2 I receive better game play than I do office.
Also, recently I was told by buick that the old rates were originally 25000 66 66, but now it is a 100TIC server. Could we possibly place it back to the old rate system?
Well that's all I really wanted to mention. If anything else comes up I will frequent back to this thread.
Hope this gets looked into because it doesn't seem to be just me....

try this in console and see if it helps out at all cl_interpolate "1"
if it does nothing or makes it worse just change it back to cl_interpolate "0"
post back let us know.

well in simple it can smooth out your game or make it worse in which case if things are worse with it on just turn it back off..
when you turn it on the server will set the cl_interp rate on it own to what ever sios has it set at also can improve ones Reg a bit also.
the 2 commands work together. for example:
if you turn on cl_interpolate "1" you can then type cl_interp into console and it will show you what it is set at i have all mine set in my autoexec.cfg...what settings work for me may NOT work for someone else.
example of my config settings for this are:
cl_interpolate "1"
cl_interp "0.011"
with out that setting in my config my game stutters a bit and i notice my Reg is off a bit more than when its turned on.
all and all experiment with it and if it doesnt work for you just turn it back off
cl_interpolate "0".
It may already be on in the servers and if it is just try turning it off and see if it helps.
PS almost forgot you could try another command that helps smooth out the game: cl_smooth "0" or cl_smooth "1" try both and see which is best for your rig.

Same with me, but I wasn't that worried about it because im getting a new Video card soon, but overall, i think the server was better as a 66tic.
just my opinion.-Onehit
Also, nobody even mentioned to me that it was changed to a 100tic server. I was playing in it for 3 days like that under 66tic rates until asain pointed out to me that it was 100tic.

well you could go into the tech (http://www.n00bunlimited.net/server-tech-talk/) (<- click it!) section and look at all my wonderful findings for tweaking your settings and or you can look at my configs located http://www.n00bunlimited.net/server-tech-talk/950-sios-autoexec-cfg-config-cfg-client-side-cs-s.html

interpolate 1 forces the client to interpolate on client as well as server.
cl_smooth 1
cl_smoothtime .1 smoothes prediction->position over time specified.
Also, interpolate 1 also works well with
cl_lagcomp_error check 1
this checks Users client and server positions.
Higher latency players want error check on.
Low lat players want it off.

Now here is a perfect example of what im saying right here!
see these setting seem to work for Khaotik..BUT if i were to use cl_smooth "1" and cl_smoothtime settings my game would run shitty,so you see its all in the rig you have and the settings you are running your vid card at..
my rig simply is Intel core2 duo with Nvidia GTX 275 6 gigs of corsair ddr2 800 mhz...OCed at processor running at 3.61 ghz from the 3.0 stock and memory is OCed to 2.20 dram voltage and timings at 5-5-5-12 from the stock 1.9 voltage and the 5-5-5-18 timings... as i said its a matter of trying different things with different rigs...one setting might work great for you and may not work so great for me....test stuff out and always make backups of your files before editting and remember what you change so you can change it back if it isnt working for ya.
