When you have leaks or no light-source in a map, the compiler makes the map a full-bright map. Meaning everywhere that one may look, the map is bright. No dark area under the stairs and so on.

So go back and check for leaks, or add a light if you have not used one.

ok..... I have not found any leaks at all... went through it a dozen times... and it has a light source but Im not sure If I am doing it right.... no matter what light i put in it it still looks the same

He sent me the .vmf and it compiled correctly on my computer. He had no leaks and had set up his lighting correctly. Not sure what his compiler settings were, but the only thing I have done to mine is adding "-final" to it.
