help importing .gif sprays

i was wondering if there are any other programs out there that will help me import .gif sprays into CSS sprays and wont lower the quality by a lot and wont have to edit its animations. the program SprayR isnt a good program b/c it lowers the quality and only allows a certain size.
if any1 can help me with this issue i'd appreciate it.

You need to get the frames individually, convert them manually to .tga's (or maybe it was .tiff's) and then use vtex to lace them together into an animated .vtf which you can use as a spray if you create a .vmt for it.

I love that I used like 354816 file extensions in that sentence.

Or, if you have photoshop, you could use this shell extension to export .vtf files. Frame-by-frame rendering can be accomplished by PS, but you will need to compile them to .vmt files.

No matter what you do, quality will suffer, so don't expect a big difference between SprayR and manually compiling the images.

if you have a gif file that you want to use then youll have to use

GIFWorks.com! Free Online GIF Tools

to split the gifs images up and then either nat's or ender's way of putting them together for use in game.

VTEX requires the frames to be in .TGA format, but it converts the .TGAs into an animated .VTF so it's not a big deal.

If you could recover the thread from when I asked around about making my Laughing Man logo spray, it had some stuff concerning this.

Being the spray maker that i am, i will say that there truely is no way to make a high quality animated spray. This is because there is a filesize cap on sprays and after 5-6 frames with a standard 256x256 spray, you will already have exceeded it. The reason SprayR is producing low quality sprays is because it was probably programmed with that filesize cap in mind, therefore reducing size and quality in order to add additional frames. So, depending on the size and length of the .gif you are trying to convert, you may not be able to create your spray.

However, if you send me the .gif, i could take a shot at it anyways :P

Don't use SprayR. Use VTEX. It's ghetto and such but it can make high-quality animated stuff. I used it for the slideshow in zm_lv426.

I never have used VTEX Nat. I can't remember what i used, but it required the individual images to be vtf. That plugin for PS is nifty, since you can import your .gif or .avi and export it to the individual .vtf files.
