no friends on friends list

Seraphim: Some people still had access via their community page (so their lists were broken, but they were still friends), some cannot access the community page whatsoever, but almost everyone has no friends now.
Seraphim: Yeah, check this out: One of Valve's reps posted saying "Please send us a link to your page and any relevant info"... about 5 pages worth of posts of 'here's my steam friends name and my community page' has spawned since then... in about 10-15 minutes.
Seraphim: He's gonna have a lot of work to do.

Seraphim: I had *just* cleared out my friends list, ensuring the only inactive ppl I had were just a couple of close friends from NU... I had like 150 people left after that (from 200).
Seraphim: I mean, that was only a couple days ago, too.

Seraphim: nuh-uh... On valve's page, I mentioned in my own "here's my info", I told 'em to check out DH's community page and fix everyone in there too. Once I'm done readding everyone, I'll make a post on the forum 'bout this.

Yeah this was random as hell. I had just entered mini game and Dot was the only one in there and he was afk from game so i went to go send him a message then all my friends were gone. all i could see was n\u and css groups. I clicked on the n\u link to see if he was online but then that page took 4ever to load, the next thing I know, my computer is dumping tons of info. I unplugged computer and internet and restarted computer then a page said windows could not load and I had to system repair. I didnt trust it, I unplugged it again and restarted and now everythings fine, except now with no friends and no access to my control panel. My ventrilo was also deleted, for what purposes, I do not know.

steam guys say they are working on it. but i suggest to add friends by yourself.

well noone knows if thats the problem. but it has to be somewhere. some guys started saying it works again but it went off again so i guess they are on a good way. hopefully.

As most of you probably know by now, Steam Friends is fail. Steam has somehow managed to wipe 99% (or seemingly so) of Steam users' Friends Lists- only a rare handful (most of whom were offline during the update, but some were online) managed to escape unscathed.

What you can do in the meantime:

* Your groups should be untouched. If you are part of any groups, you can re-add your friends through there. Both Deserted Haven's and N/U's groups were unaffected, so if your friends joined us, you can re-add them there.
* Some people, such as myself, have re-added friends manually. Look at a friend's page, and see what friends they have (if any), and add through there. Hopefully you may find a friend or two who haven't been affected.
* Reconnect through forums, (be it community forums (such as this one), via Steampowered's forums), or in-game.
* Be patient. Steam said that "they're working on it"... Hopefully that means "some time soon".
