mat_dxlevel?

Everytime I open up the game I have to open console and change my mat_dxlevel from 60 to 80 (80 is required on the gg server). But anyway, is there a way I can permanently change my mat_dxlevel or automatically have the server change it when I enter the server?

this isn't really a problem just wondering if there is any way around it?

Yes. Put it in your Autoexec.cfg file. And it will change it to 80 everytime you open the game. That's how i have mine set up because i had the same problem....

So just bye typing in Autoexec.cfg in console and changing it to 80 will fix the permanently?

No.....

Go to My Computer.
Than Local Disk (C: ).
Program Files.
Steam Folder.
Steamapps.
Click on the name you use to log into steam.
Than Counter-Strike source.
cstrike folder.
cfg folder.

Once here you should have a Autoexec.cfg Type it in there and save it.

Now if you don't have one what you need to do is open notepad and type it in there and save it to that cfg folder. Once you've saved it change it to a .cfg or it won't work.

You have any problems just ask.

When I go through the directions you gave me inside of my steamapps folder it shows another folder titled SourceMods and another icon called winui GCF File, which isnt my log in name?

Is there a possibilty that my log on name, which is Slicedham1 would be in a different folder? i tried looking around in my steam folder but nothing along the lines of my name showed up.

You got to your Steam Folder and there was the Steamapps folder. In it... there should be The Log in names that have logged in on that computer and the Source Mod folder. Your loggin name should be there.

What was in that other folder besides the SourseMod. The winui GCF folder?

Russian dont forget when you create the cfg from a note pad doc to name it autoexec.cfg then in your server config.cfg add this line { exec "autoexec.cfg" } with out the brackets and that will load your auto exec every time you join a server. and make sure you have the quotes but not the brackets.

ohh yeah i almost forgot you can add your DX level to your CS:source launch options also thats how i have mine very usefull setting can be added to the launch options...just do a search for cs:source launch options its real easy to do and the setting will load every time you start cs:s LaterZ

thanks outlaw and noogy, but the other icon in my steamapps folder was just some sort of link and brought me to some site, doesnt have anything to do with my steam log in name.. but thanks you can close this thread, nothing seems to be working

i looked around on some tech forums, theyre saying to reinstall steam and delete my old files.

may give that a try because i deffinitely cant find my name in steamapps
