Getting GG populated

ok, so i'm in the middle of studying for a test right now (yay for breaks) but we've been talking about how certain servers' - including gun game - population has dropped to next to non-existent. i'd like to address each server individually and throw ideas around on how we think we can try and bring the population back. any ideas at all, please post them here. if i think of something while i'm studying i'll edit this with it.

Yes I will lock this if it gets to become a bashing thread. Knock it off... GunGame dieing is in NO WAY Cogburns fault.

The voting system was changed because he had a complaint about stupid people voting for a new map when people were on Nade and Knife. Which i completely agreed with.

Second of all. The voting system has been fixed to where it was orginally and the server is still dead. Instead of figuring out why it died please be constructive and instead post ways to better benefit the server.

Actually Johnny i think the voting thing is better, and it's not because of cogbern.
After xmas break GG died out, people just got lives lol.
I say if we got a bunch of friends and stuff like a couple times a week and went in
just to draw new players it'll eventually get back to where it was.
A lot of the old gun game players now play in office and zombie mod and stuff. Just TRY and get it populated. because once one person leaves, everyone does...

Yeah blaming cogbern doesn't help the situation at all... it just causes drama. Nadia pretty much said it once someone leaves pretty much everyone does so if your going to invite someone make sure they're going to stay for a while and not just leave 4-6 minutes after they join. thats my 2 cents.

If you want to post something negative or put blame on someone then send yourself a fucking email.

This thread is about what we can do to help populate GG, not why its not populated anymore.

one suggestion i've had is to create a day for each server a week. like monday: gun-game, tuesday: min-game, wednesday: unlimited, etc. obviously, you don't need to play only there those days, but it could be something that admin or ppl who like all the different variations of cs:s to help try and boost not just one server, but all of them. could possibly get a lot of new ppl interested in not just a server, but the community. or it could backfire and get no new ppl.

well honestly, to tell you the truth, theres nothing wrong with our gungame.
Its fun, its fast, and is always exciting to play.
All we need is for some regs to get it started and we will have new players and reg players filling the slots, just hit me up anytime you wanna get it started, ill be glad to join

ok i keep hearing things like n/u's gungame is dead when it very much is not, theres a few problems that need to be fixed that i believe will help the server maintain a higher population.

1. Bring the bots back. Yes they were glitchy and sometimes messed things up, but it sucks balls when your by your self with no way of gaining levels.

2. Update the map rotaion. There are currently maps on the rotation that kill the server population (ex. gg_dustpit) only has 12 spawn points can be fun when a few people are on, but when the server is full or close to it you have serveral people forced to sit in spectate or leave cause its a pain to change it via votemap on a populated server.

What i've noticed is that the gungame server has a problem getting started cause once people join it stays populated for hours.

maps are fine, dustpit is a good map... if it has only 12 spawn points, then yes it needs more. Easy fix! sorry, but like I have said in a lot of posts before... the maps are not the problem... people only wanting a VERY select few maps is the problem. there have been maps in rotation that was very well balanced and made gameplay in gg great... BUT as soon as they was put on people would scream "this map sucks within 3 minutes of playing it, and annoy the hell out of others till a rtv or votemap went through. Seen this go on for almost 3 years now. We have put posts up trying to get maps people like... we get the maps and STILL all you hear is "lets go to shotty, this map sucks". I appologize if this comes off bad and makes me look like an asshole, but in my oppinion maps are not a problem. there are maps in gg that I cant stand but I play them anyway (absolutely HATE texture_jungle, samich, and cartonbox)...

As for bots.... everytime I was in with the bots there was a problem. for one you wouldnt level up even if you was playing with them.... unless you dropped your current gun to pick up your next gun that was laying in front of you (thanks noogy for pointing that out). Now if the bugs was worked out with bots, then go for it... but personally I would rather just go in there and message people till they came in.

also.... compared to how gg was this time last year, it is very very empty almost 75% of the time...

believe it or not but id say another problem is the bad behavior of a lot of regs there. just a few days ago ive heard from someone that they tried to voteban someone just cause the ping was high but that person was from germany (no not me) and that person was not lagging. if you have played on gg im sure some of you noticed that ppl start votebanning, votekicking, votemuting someone just cause they dont like a person. imo thats not a good base to get new regs.

its funny you say that saj, because just yesterday whem the server was full, a lot of people were complaining how no one plaays ther. after hearing about your post i understand why they dont want to play there.

i think a reason admins got tired of it was the constant bitching and yelling, and 10 people on the mic yellin at how they got bullshitted on a backknife. it may look like an easy server to administer (thats what i thought when i got my admin there) but unless you can take verbal abuse and keep ur composure, its hard to sit there and take complaints while tryiing to play and populate.

i think the next time someone complains about something in the server we should say "Visit n00b Unlimited gaming community and post your suggestions on how to make it better" if they arent lazy, and really are regs, theyll do it.

but overall last night was a good night for n/u we had 5 servers populated at one time. office, zombie mod, mini games, crackhouse, and gun game. mainly because o the spread of admins in all the servers. we should keep this up!
