Zombie is Fucking Dead... Discuss ;o

The last month and a half to two months, Zombie has been deader than, well, the fucking zombies on the server. It's been my home at N/U for about a year now, so it really sucks to me to lose this since this is where my shit has been. I've made maps for the server, configured the admin plugin, made a promo video for it, and done all sorts of stuff for ZM, so it's really shitty that it's dead.

But it's still dead, so what are we going to do about it?


First I'd like to explore the reasons behind its demise...

A: Tons of regulars and admins spontaneously disappeared.
- Jack, Spyder, Zaku, Zekeus... They're hardly on...
- Cancer's gone, Juu isn't on as much, etc...
B: No Jr. Owners around D:
C: Exam Season could have contributed to this
D: Old Maps


So like, for whatever reason, probably something to do with exams, people stopped coming on the server. Also, some maps on there were real old. Random and I, then Sios and I a few weeks later went and updated the maps but the server was already dead at this point so it was too little too late.


Anyway, what can we do about this? In my opinion, the server is fucked, and it's gonna stay fucked, until we get a dedicated Jr. Owner to help populate it again, someone who has the time for this. I would do it, but I don't have a job ATM, and I don't have the time given how much I map and model for the game. I spend too much time on other shit to be a Jr. Owner. So, IMO, unless we KNOW that the lack of leadership will be fixed, then, I say we replace this server with something else.

We can take suggestions as to what we replace it with, but personally I'd like to see a stock and custom map rotation server because that's something I can make maps for.



Whatever, tell me what you think, ideas, suggestions, etc...

my exams are forcing me not to be on as much but the good news is i should hopefuly be finished my exams in a weeks time so that will give me all the time to try and get the server repopulated again. I dont mind just spending ages sitting in zm it helps me find new spots and all sorts. If i was old enough i would apply for the jr owner but until then ile have to wait.

In my opinion the main concept of the zombie mod server is not one many people like. While it may be fun for a few who find a way to be untouchable it is inevitable that you will become a zombie. In this form you will have to try to get to someone for an undefinable amount of time. For example on the off occasion i go into zombie i spent 30 minutes plus trying to get to natalya, How anyone can define this as fun is beyond me, plus It takes absalutely no skill with a gun to play this map. I think at this period of time people are conserened more with fast easy results, and spending an insane amount of time completing the objective doesnt satisfy their needs. There may be more invovled in the zombie mod server that i have missed, because i do not play their often, but that is basicly what it is.

Should we try to save it. Personally i think not.

Just because you don't like ZM doesn't mean it isn't popular. 25 of the top 100 CS:S servers in terms of activity are Zombie Mod servers, one of which is #8. Also, I get way more kills as zombie than as a human, and I bet that if you camped in a spot I camped, as a zombie I would still be able to kill you. ;o It's just skill really. Yeah, sure, not much skill for humans, but as a zombie you learn to pwn. D:

I agree with Betts 100% on the flaws with ZM, and we should try to do something else with it. Personally I would like to suggest an Oilrig server or something along the same objective that oil rigs was (which was VIP escort/Escape). Just giving a possible option.

Sorry, I stopped playing ZM 'cause Tara, Dev, Random, Juu, and lots other left/banned/dropped off the face of the earth. So i went to Office Unlim. But even still, I like ZM(hell, its what introduced me to N/U), its fun to just play around in, not really serious or anything. I've realized that we don't get close to anyone in there anymore and its disappointing but shit happens. If it keeps up being this dead, i'm all for the map rotation server 100%.

I've been a regular on the ZM server for a long time, it's been fun while playing on it, though it may seem impossible at some or most points during the game, I push on and try to organize my fellow zomibe to slash the remaining humans necks and make them zombies. sometimes things are hard, but don't quit just because it's hard. In real life, if thats all we did was quit when it was hard... where would we be today? I'll keep on being a regular on that server till it goes EXTINCT!
